Rhiannon Broersma, PA-C Joins the Carson Valley Health Specialty Care Team

GARDNERVILLE, Nev. – Born and raised in Carson Valley, Rhiannon Broersma, Physician Assistant Certified (PA-C), is joining the Urology team at Carson Valley Health Specialty Care. “I’m excited to provide community care in my hometown,” Ms. Broersma said. “I’ve worked in Carson City and Reno, and I’m looking forward to the family feel here."

With a strong patient care background, Ms. Broersma’s most recently practiced orthopedics, however she sees a growing need for urology. She will work closely with James Cunningham, MD, and his surgical patients.

Ms. Broersma is no stranger to Carson Valley Health; she has extensive experience in the operating room (OR) and speaks highly of the surgical team. Ms. Broersma said, “I love working in this OR. It is one of the better ORs, and our patients give us positive feedback.” In fact, she first met Dr. Cunningham in the surgery department.

Learning new skills is something she enjoys, and Ms. Broersma has always been interested in healthcare. She began her career as a paramedic with REMSA, moving on to Care Flight, then graduated from University of Nevada, Reno School of Medicine with a Master of Science Physician Assistant in 2020. “In PA school we received formal training to assist physicians during surgery. Spending more time with patients is one of the things I enjoy about surgery and outpatient medicine in general. You may see patients for several years.”

Ms. Broersma loves the positive culture of Carson Valley Health and looks forward to working with her patients, improving their outcomes, and being a part of the hospital's expansion. Ms. Broersma looks forward to settling back in her hometown and spending her career near her extended family.
